Dear valued friend of the Old Fashioned Revival Hour,

I have been reminded a number of times lately about how easy it is for me to lose my eternal perspective and to get lost in the difficulties and worries that life brings my way on a daily basis. How about you? I’ve found it critical to shift my perspective (as soon as I catch myself) to the wondrous faithfulness of my God and Savior.Over many years He has been so unfailingly trustworthy with me and has given me peace and assurance through each problem that has come – and there have been plenty.

But I try not to lose sight of the abundance of promises He has given me in His Word. One such promise out of scores and scores of them reads: “Do not fear [anything], for I am with you. Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation].” (Isaiah 41:10 Amplified)

He is so patient with me! Have you experienced that as well? Developing this further, I’d like to direct your thinking to the third chapter of Paul’s letter to the Colossians where Dr. Fuller will take us for the last Sunday in July (after three weeks in the 25^th chapter of Matthew).

The Apostle Paul calls us to keep seeking the things above: an active, continual choice – looking in the mirror of God’s Word at the garments we’re wearing. There’s a list of ugly things to take off as we don the beautiful garments the Holy Spirit offers us as we walk in the light. Even (and especially) when our circumstances are painful and discouraging, we are to actively “put on love, the perfect bond of unity” as we purposely allow the peace of Christ to rule in our hearts. Thus our lives become a witness of “Christ in us, the hope of glory.”
