Beloved OFRH family,
Here we are, preparing for Easter Sunday and celebrating all that our precious Savior has accomplished on our behalf. We have two special Easter music CDs with uplifting numbers by the choir and quartet to help you celebrate our Lord’s victory over the cross and the tomb. (See details at the end of this letter.)
What a privilege it is for me to seek our Lord’s face again this month and to share with you what He has impressed upon my heart. The Book of Ruth, where the OFRH focus remains during April, is such a beautiful picture of redemption in an Old Testament setting. In a foreshadowing of the grace of God which has been extended to all Gentiles because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Ruth moves forward in faith with her mother-in-law toward Bethlehem. She is a Gentile, a Moabitess, and knows she will be considered an unwelcome foreigner. Recognizing her helpless condition apart from the God of Israel, by faith she tells Naomi, “Your people shall be my people and your God, my God.”
Dear one, like Ruth, have you been in a dire or even frightening place in your life with no way forward that you could discern in your own wisdom? Certainly we are living in days of turmoil which are frightening to multitudes. In times like these, God’s Word is our indispensable resource. For example: “Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken” (Psalm 55:22 NASB). The psalmist also declares, “If the Lord had not been my help, my soul would soon have dwelt in the abode of silence. If I should say, ‘My foot has slipped,’ Your lovingkindness, O Lord, will hold me up. When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul” (Ps. 94:17-19).
Therefore, let us lean hard onto our Sure Foundation and find Him faithful. And if you need some guidance and encouragement along these lines, please let us hear from you so we may lift you up in prayer. In a brief email, a gentleman reminded us last month that the Internet allows us to reach far beyond our U.S. borders. He said, “I listened to your program on the captioned radio station via the Internet. It’s a real blessing to me. I am living in the British Virgin Islands, in the West Indies. Keep up the good works. God bless you.” Well, we are truly blessed by such notes – so keep them coming.
Rejoicing in His resurrection,
Michael Khanchalian, D.D.S.
