June 2024 Newsletter

Stairway to heaven

Precious and valued friend,

Are you ever overwhelmed with all you have to get done?  That is exactly where I am finding myself these days. When I wake up and my perspective is completely inundated with responsibilities, practically choking the Lord out of my awareness, that is when it is expedient that I make every effort to run to Him and Him alone. I am sharing with you what I am preaching to myself, having been reminded of the time when Jesus was with Mary and Martha in their own home. He turned to Martha and lovingly said in Luke 10:41-42, Amplified Version: “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered and anxious about so many things, but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part [that which is to her advantage] which will not be taken away from her.”  I confess that I can get fretful and  dis-tracted by secondary things, losing sight of who my loving and all-powerful  Savior is. But then He presses me to refresh my soul in His Word first and then joyfully recall that He is ready to empower me for the day, having  regained  His eternal perspective.  Here’s just one promise He gives:

“Those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] will gain new strength and renew their power; they will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles…. They will run and not become weary. They will walk and not grow tired” (Isaiah 40:31, Amplified Version).

As Dr. Fuller continues teaching from the Book of Acts during June, we’ll see afresh how Paul and Silas waited for the Lord, took God’s direction seriously and obediently and “ran a straight course” (Acts 16:11-12) keeping their focus on God and His power and faithfulness. Even when they’d been beaten and thrown into the inner prison in what seemed to be an impossible situation, they could pray, sing and worship, putting their full trust in Him. In following their example, we also free the Lord to do the unexpected in our lives.

The featured CD for June is “The 1870 Pump Organ” with 17 songs by the choir. It’s available for just $16.50 (due to tax $18 if you live in California). Those prices include shipping.

We are encouraged by the following email: “I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the broadcasts being made available online, and I let all my friends know about it…. We’ve been looking for recordings online for years.  The old time preaching – you just don’t hear it today.  And the music is a breath of fresh air….”
